Step by step: the controls

Every tool of the 1 km map, briefly explained.

🔍 Indicator picker

Pick one indicator for a single colour scale, or two for bivariate — height plus colour. Four data sources from coarse to fine: 1 km grid (210,556 areas), district INKAR (400), municipality BTW (10,886) and POIs (single points).

🧊 3D mode

Turns on height — each block represents its cell's value, making differences spatially readable.

⬆ Exaggerate height

Scales the blocks 1× to 5× to make subtle differences visible. Purely visual — the data stays the same.

🗺 Borders

Show state (16) and district (433) borders to orient yourself on the map.

🏷 City labels

Toggle city labels on and off — for a calmer or more informative map.

🛈 Cell tooltip

Hover over a cell to see its exact values — population, share and coordinates.

⛶ Maximise the map

Hide all panels and use the full screen for the map alone.
